Limited Edition Chanel Give Away

Having the latest beauty products is essential to my life, and I prepare myself well for launches of must-have items. I am on first name terms with the women and men at my favourite stores who keep me informed of what's coming in and when and they happily put items aside for me. However, I have encountered the waiting list problem with only one item. Nail Varnish. When I did finally get hold of the Jade coloured varnish from Chanel last summer, having paid far more than I should have on Ebay I was bitterly disappointed as the colour did not work for me at all. So when I learnt about the newest colour from Chanel 505 Particuliere, which was launched at the end of January, I rang the Bond Street store and spoke to the woman who is the keeper of all things glossy there and was told that absolutely no polishes would be held for anyone it was non-negotiable. So unless you are the editor of a magazine where you can demand your beauty editor hand over the sample that was sent in months ago, it's not going to be easy getting hold of a pot.

Why do I care, you may ask, well this particular colour is the colour I have been searching for my entire life and I want it desperately. I had asked all my London girlfriends to do everything they can to get me one, I just can't bear having to pay £45 on Ebay again, for something that should only cost £16.50, fundamentally there is something wrong with this. So you can imagine my delight, joy and excitement when I found one of these gorgeous varnishes in a town about 11 miles from here that I was visiting on one of my weekly visits I have been making for research purposes. I am compiling a small booklet for my guests of places to visit when they come to stay and I can only give my seal of approval if I have called in on these places and spent a little time there.
The pot sat proudly on display of this small store and when I approached the counter I felt the surge of love pour over me as I knew the colour was perfect. I picked it up and casually asked if this colour was in stock and gulped as the overly, but expertly made-up woman behind the counter told me she had lots. So trying to hide my excitement I purchased a bottle and as I was leaving the store I thought of all the women out there desperately trying to find a small bottle of this liquid joy, so I popped back to the counter and bought another and have decided that I would give it away to one of you in order to spread some goodwill around the world.
To win simply tell me what should be on every woman or mans must have item list, and please be kind and fair and pass on the news of this give away to whomever you feel would love to have a go. I shall pick the winner on the 15th February, with the help of handsome husband.

Oh you sophisticated thing - you are so in a different league to me. I'm going to tell you something that will horrify you - I bite my nails and they are disgusting. When London-based and London-working I would regularly go to a nail salon in St. John's Wood for my acrylics to be put on. Out here in the sticks (and French sticks is proper country, no Hunter wellies here) the nearest nail bar is about a long drive away.

What was that? Oh? A tear shed on my behalf. Well, I could always stop biting them (which I do periodically) and put hardener on.

Anyway I am delighted for you with finding this colour and at such a reasonable price. It's funny being out here - you would think it reasonably easy to find French macquillage - but it is not. For my Chanel eyebrow pencil I still use the Covent Garden pharmacy website.

p.s. Suspicious creature that I am, I am beginning to wonder if you are Mrs Pouncer in disguise. Forgive me if I am way off here - it is just that she has not been around for ages and your writing style and savoir faire are very similar to hers.

In case you think I am way off - have a little look at her blog:

I've also fallen for this colour and managed to get my hands on a bottle of it, so will withdraw myself from your (very generous) competition.

Plus I cannot begin to answer your question...!

Dearest North West London Girl,
Thanks so much for stopping by on " my side of town". Your blog is simply fabulous, and once I saw your "magic cupcakes" post I knew I had to follow(cupcakes are my weakness). Good luck with the laundry detergent.

Wow! Definitely the best giveaway I have seen since I started blogging!

A taupe-coloured bottle of nail polish probably isn't the highest priority of make-up must-haves, but it is pretty and sought-after and I have decided I need this little piece of Chanel in my life!

And my answer to your question- what must woman have in her bag of tricks? I would suggest some rose-tinted sunglasses- maybe even some Chanel- monogrammed ones- to make even the most hideous of days seem a little cheerier and hide those late-night eyes!

I think what the top must have items a woman must have as her arsenal are blush maybe Nars - Orgasm and a tube of very good with a perfect wand mascara. Why!? So that she can have some wonderful bright eyes even on the worst of days and a glowy lush look to her complexion.

Ahhh, I sooo know what you mean about the perfect nail polish color! Have had such troubles in the past too, and unfortunately, not all of my searches ended up b eing rewardred with the reasured purchase... So I'm honetsly very happy for you!! Yay, congratulations, dear!! :) To answer your question, I'd say that every woman should have the right type and shade of blush. This one make up item can really transfrom the way you look and feel, yet if you apply it knowingly, I guarantee you a lot of people wouldn't even notice you have it on. The right blush can make your face look rested and healthy even if you're not, and you can totally use it both with other make up and with no other make up on at all. AS for a man's must have item... It may sound weird to some, but I am a firm believer that every man should have a good facial cream with SPF AND use it. Do I even have to explain it? :) Would love to enter your give away, as I really like this color - somehow I've always liked the idea of a black nail polish but the color never looked right on me, but not so long ago I discovered that if I wore dark purples or shades of grays it did the thing for me - in some way it is still in the black category (as in not too colorful) yet it brings out the best in my skin shade and compliments me, rather than making me appear dull.

oh wow! it's so nice of you to share something so limited. i mean, really! :)

anyway, something every woman should have are the following: a hair brush, concealer and red lipstick (mine is chanel rouge allure in lover). because as long as your hair is in order and you have a little color in your lips and no undereye circles, for me, you're good to go!

I could have a manicure, pedicure a blow dry for my hair and a giant latte for the price of that bottle of Chanel nail polish....I love that color but I'm way too thrifty to be that chic.
What every woman needs in her bag of tricks, Crest white strips of course! When all else fails a great smile works.

You are so sweet with this giveaway! Well, for women I would say a must have would be a signature perfume and lip gloss. For men... oh gosh, men are hard! Oooo, ok, men must have the ability to cook! Haha, well, that's something my ideal man must have :)

Oh, I'd love to have a pot of this liquid joy! You know, I went hunting for the same hue here in Paris and could find one which is very charming but on several layers turn more chocolaty. Delish' sure but not exactly the wanted effect. How far from London are you located? Some day I'd love to visit the English countryside, not just my fave' city;)

Susu Paris Chic said...

Oops, got a bit carried away dreaming about the English country side pleasures and forgot "the assignment"... Every woman should own a sweet lipstick. It spruces up any gloomy day and makes you feel like a real sensual mademoiselle!

I love your blog and I am a follower. I found you on SITs.

My nails are appalling, when I don't bit them they slipt and when they slipt I bit them. This is my story with my nails for ages. Country life must be a bliss, London is hectic, but I really enjoy it.

Danielle said...

I absolutely LOVE that color!!!

Stoppin' by from SITS!

Oh I so totally understand this situation. You see I had an OPI polish put on me during a manicure about 10 yrs ago called Concorde Grape and it was LOVE. Well then they discontinued it and I was gutted. It was a purple but with a pewter tone to it, not the usual rad tone.

Finally this past winter I found it's match, or as close as possible and it was by Dior!
So I drive a 6 hour round trip to get to my nearest Sephora (no joke) and buy the only 2 bottles they have at $20 each! They are now safely ensconced in my fridge.

I so get this, plus it's a gorgeous shade!

My item every woman should have would be either a pstyle (I think you know what I mean) or Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion.
